Inside WordCamp Sylhet 2024: A Celebration of Code, Community, and Creativity

Introduction
Attending WordCamp Sylhet 2024 was an unforgettable experience that not only deepened my appreciation for the WordPress community but also reaffirmed my commitment to building, sharing, and innovating with open-source technologies. As a tech entrepreneur and the founder of companies like Unicorn Software Ltd, EduNova International, and Dakdoom.com, I see every WordCamp as an opportunity to connect, learn, and grow.
Held in Sylhet — my home region — this edition of WordCamp had an energy that was both professional and deeply personal. In this post, I’ll take you through the highlights, sessions, sponsors, rewards, and personal moments that made this one of the best tech events I’ve attended.

The Atmosphere: Local Roots, Global Reach
WordCamp Sylhet 2024 was hosted at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), and from the moment I entered the venue, I could feel the enthusiasm. The setup was world-class — organized registration booths, tech-savvy volunteers, vibrant banners, and a sense of community that instantly reminded me why WordPress is more than just a CMS — it’s a movement.
Sessions That Inspired Me
The speaker lineup featured both local experts and international contributors. From development workflows to content strategy and business growth, every session added value.
Standout Talks:
- “Modern WordPress Theme Development with Full Site Editing” – As the founder of Unicorn Software Ltd, which specializes in theme development, this was particularly insightful.
- “SEO Strategies for 2024 and Beyond” – A deep dive into Core Web Vitals, content performance, and the evolving SERP landscape.
- “Open Source as a Career Path” – A motivational session that emphasized the values of contribution, collaboration, and sustainability.
Community & Networking
One of the best aspects of WordCamp is the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals. I had the pleasure of meeting developers, designers, digital marketers, and fellow entrepreneurs from across Bangladesh.
Many were readers of my blog post on digital innovation and wanted to discuss entrepreneurship and how to scale tech businesses globally. It was humbling and rewarding.

Booths, Sponsors & Surprises
The sponsor booths brought another level of energy to the event. Each offered something unique — knowledge, swag, or even games.
Here’s what I collected and appreciated:
- Bluehost – I received a branded pad, pen, and T-shirt after winning a game at their booth.
- BDThemes – A highlight moment: I was personally handed a branded T-shirt by the CEO of BDThemes. As a fellow theme developer, this was an inspiring interaction.
- Business Globalizer – After participating in their booth contest, I received a gifted T-shirt and got to discuss global business formation strategies with their team.
- Academy LMS – Another personal moment came when I was gifted a T-shirt directly from their CEO, showing appreciation for my support of local EdTech solutions.
These aren’t just freebies — they’re symbolic connections, proof that the WordPress ecosystem values collaboration, recognition, and mutual respect.
Game Wins & Community Engagement
Throughout the day, there were multiple games and challenges — quizzes, social media tasks, and booth activities. I was actively engaged and attended so many games, and I ended up winning multiple small rewards, including:
- Stickers
- Coffee mugs
- Branded accessories
Every interaction was fun and meaningful, reinforcing the sense of unity and shared learning that defines WordCamps.
What I Learned & Why It Matters
As someone who actively contributes to the tech landscape through platforms like Unicorn IT Institute and EduNova International, WordCamp Sylhet reminded me of the importance of:
- Continual Learning – Technology evolves fast. Block-based themes, AI integrations, and cloud innovations are shaping tomorrow’s web.
- Open Source Contribution – Giving back makes the ecosystem stronger. Whether through plugins, themes, translations, or mentorship — contribution is currency.
- Local Impact, Global Mindset – Sylhet proved that you don’t need to be in Silicon Valley to make an impact. The energy, ideas, and talent right here in Bangladesh are more than enough.
A Personal Note
As a tech entrepreneur, blogger, and educator, attending WordCamp isn’t just a routine — it’s a renewal of purpose. It’s a place where I meet future collaborators, passionate developers, and curious students. I also received wonderful feedback on my content, especially My Journey in Tech, which further motivates me to share, teach, and inspire.

Final Thoughts
WordCamp Sylhet 2024 was more than an event — it was a celebration of everything I believe in: collaboration, innovation, and community. I returned with knowledge, new friends, new ideas, and yes — a few T-shirts too. But most importantly, I left feeling more connected than ever to the mission of building an open, accessible, and innovative web.
See you at the next WordCamp — and until then, keep creating, keep contributing, and keep moving forward.
